Eid 2012 

Gender dynamics played a huge role in shooting this Eid series. Traditionally, women must pray behind men or in a separate space. Being a female photographer, I had to figure out how I can document the culture as well as keep the trust within the community. In these questionable times we need positive imagery to push against the vile xenophobia and trash headlines. Khadija Saye

Eid documents the colourful gathering of the Gambian Muslim community within a sports hall in east London to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the festival of breaking the fast.
